THE WORLD CUP, UPS AND DOWNS IN SPORT

I had wanted to write a post on WHY Christianity was able to conquer the Roman Empire in the 300s of our era.  I got a promising book from the local library, Dominion, by Tom Holland, a Christian, and quite knowledgeable about the subject.  I also wanted to add my objection to some of ways the Christian Revolution turned out.

Now, I think I bit off more than I can chew.  Holland's book is 600 pages.  The Google AI, that I had been using for legal dates and other ideas, disappeared over night, with new versions.  My eyes, not in the best condition, as I must take a few eyedrops daily, and an injection in my right eyeball about every 6 weeks.  And the topper - it's World Cup time.  Some decades ago, I used to play football (soccer) and quite loved the game.  But that would be another blog post with surprises to readers.  But not now.

When we played, there were no humidifier breaks.  Only 2 substitutes, so most played for the full 90 minutes.  Now, it almost looks like a 2nd team of subs coming on the filed around the 70th minute.  But it is still a great game with many surprises already.  Power houses Spain and Portugal both opened by failing to defeat what seemed were weak opponents.  The USA and Germany opend strong, but in their 2nd games lost to supposedly weaker opponents.  I had no idea where Cape Verde was until they surprised everyone by doing so well.  Mexico had a love fest in that stadium in the nation's capital.  Thousands of spectators in numerous stadia in 3 nations, people cheering, and not one human fed to a lion; not one gladiator executed by his opponent.---Hugh Murray
