ON ANOTHER ASPECT OF FOREIGN INFLUENCE ON THE AMERICAN ELECTION

The Pope is disappointed in both major candidates for President of the US - one he finds anti life; the other anti-migrant.  Of course, he is allowed to have his opinion, and to express it.

And I will express my opinion on his assessment of the candidates for US President.

I suggest that the US send the 10 million or so invaders (those whom the Pope calls migrants), that we send 10 million to Vatican City, where the Pope has an independent nation.

I should add another point, American politicians are mainly concerned with the welfare of the citizens of the nation-state, the USA.  The Pope's major concerns are global, some would say heavenly.  He leads the largest religious organization in the world.  It is not democratic, but is that the point of a religious group?  It has lasted with modifications for about 2,000 years, far longer than any large democratic state.  And allegiance to most religious institutions, at least in the modern world, tends to be voluntary, whereas allegiance to the nation state is usually mandatory.

America has laws to admit immigrants and legitimate refugees, laws continually ignored and defied by the "above the law" Biden Administration and its Border Czarina, Kamala Harris.
The US seeks to be democratic, "a democracy within a republic."  We hope to have elections where only American citizens can vote

Who elects the Pope?  The Pope is not elected by the millions of Roman Catholics of the world; - He is chosen only by several hundred Cardinals, many of whom are appointed by the present Pope.  I am not saying what Catholics should do - that is their tradition.  If some Catholics heartily disagreed with the process, they can leave the church.  Most Catholics remain.  I am simply pointing out that our American national institutions are different from those of the most popular religious institution on earth today.

I will stick to our more democratic institutions.  I worry that this election is most important in retaining our democratic republic.  Not since Thomas Jefferson sought to destroy Aaron Burr after their dispute concerning who would be President and VP, when Jefferson sought to prosecute (persecute) Burr for activities in Louisiana and the new western lands has there been such vindictive persecution of political rivals. The Democrats have conspired to shut Trump up, impoverish him, and put him in prison for years.  And on a smaller scale the Democrats went after Trump's allies like former NYC Mayor Giuliani, and political advisors Peter Navarro and Steven Bannon.  Pelosi's J6 Congressional inquiry was as one-sided as a Moscow show trial of the 1930s, in which Pelosi hand-picked the Republican "opposition" like then Congresswoman Liz Cheney.  Was she really to represent the Trump defense?

I do not agree with every word that Trump says.  But he made America a better place for 2 years until Dr. Fauci's funded experiments in the Wuhan laboratory led to the Covid epidemic.  Trump understands the economy, and if anyone can, ha will build us up again.  Trump rightly distrusts the CIA types that were determined to use Ukraine for a thrust against Russia, and he knows 51 US intelligence leaders LIED about the Hunter lap-top showing Biden family corruption.  They lied to help Biden and the Democrats avoid defeat in 2020, and they will do dirty tricks to try to prevent Trump winning in 2024 (is there more to the story of the young assassin in Pennsylvania who came close to closing Trump's campaign and his life?)

Trump knows the dangers of the American Deep State, Swamp, (whatever you call it).  And he pledges to finally reveal to the public the JFK assassination files.  Trump promises the end to endless wars, no-win wars - our last major win was WWII.  Peace through strength.  No more waste on green energy, no more hatred of gas stoves, gas autos, and oil, and long tested cheap forms of energy.  Equal rights for all citizens and no more DEI discrimination.  No more men in women' s sports.  Schools that teach the 3Rs, and discipline.  He will draw on the past to make us a GREAT NATION AGAIN.     Hugh Murray
