BARBIE AND OPPENHEIMER

The new Barbie film has been banned in Vietnam.  Why?  Because it includes a map in which the South China Sea is shown as belonging to the People's Republic of China, Communist China.  Vietnam disputes the power grab by its northern neighbor and has its own claim to part of that sea.  Other nations in the area also dispute the Chinese claim, including the Philippines.  Why does an American film include a map of an area using the disputed claim of Communist China as the real map?  Moreover, the Chinese claim was rejected by an international court, AND the US also rejects the Chinese claim.  This is why the US sends ships into the area without getting clearance from China.  And our air missions too above the South China Sea.  There have been some close calls as the Chinese try to prevent our missions there.  The Chinese have sunk many Vietnamese and Philippino shipping boats.

Again, why does an American film show a map approved by Beijing and rejected by Washington?  One suspects that Hollywood was more interested in selling tickets in China, and this was one way.  Showing another map might have prevented Barbie from entering China.

Meanwhile, Barbie is banned in Vietnam.  I heard a rumor, she is not happy about this, and is now talking to Oppenheimer about building a bomb to destroy that country.  My next question, why is Barbie not banned in the US?
